11 Nov HAT-TRICK OF SHORTLISTINGS FOR TATE CONSULTING AT THIS YEAR’S CIBSE YORKSHIRE AWARDS

Tate Consulting is shortlisted in three categories at this year’s prestigious Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Yorkshire Awards, which celebrate engineering excellence throughout the region.

First up, we’re shortlisted in the Project of the Year category for our work on Moda’s New York Square and Hestia’s Madison East and Mercer West at Caddick Developments’ £300 million mixed-use SOYO development in Leeds city centre.

New York Square consists of 515 build-to-rent apartments in two 16 and 17-storey towers, with far-reaching views over the ever-evolving Leeds skyline. There are two commercial units on the ground floor, which both achieved a BREEAM rating of ‘very good’. The homes also benefit from first-class on-site amenities including a gym, co-working space, lounges, a private-hire dining room, cinema and a rooftop sky lounge and terrace.

Madison East and Mercer West comprises two adjoining blocks, which include 331 brand new build-to-rent apartments, including resident lounge areas and a gym, as well as outdoor courtyards, and 12,000 sq ft of retail, restaurant and ground floor amenity space.

Next up, Tate Consulting’s Mason Kilmartin is a finalist in the Young Engineer of the Year category. Mason joined our Leeds office as our first apprentice in 2019. He went on to complete a HNC qualification last year, as well as passing his End Point Assessment (EPA), which is the final apprenticeship exam, and he now has membership and EngTech LCIBSE registration with CIBSE.

He’s now studying for a Level 5 and 6 BEng (Hons) at Leeds Beckett alongside his day job as a junior engineer, where he works on projects in the industrial, distribution, residential and aviation sectors, both in the UK and overseas.

Last, but by no means least, Tate Consulting is shortlisted for the prestigious Small Consultancy of the Year award.

Considerations for the judges include the breadth of projects we’re working on, which for us spans high-profile residential, distribution, industrial, aviation, retail and leisure projects throughout the UK, Europe and the USA, as well as effective collaboration and our ability to improve building design and performance through innovative energy management measures, which are all areas we take great pride in!

The winners will be announced at The Royal Armouries in Leeds on 22nd November.
