Tate Consulting appointed as Building Services & Sustainability Engineers for Angel Gardens at Noma Manchester

Tate Consulting have been appointed as Building Services & Sustainability Engineers for the Angel Gardens development at Noma Manchester.

Angel Gardens is a landmark residential scheme of over 450 one, two and three bedroom apartments, part of the £800 million, 20 acre, Noma mixed-use development. Located at the corner of Miller Street and Rochdale Road in Manchester, the development is led by Moda Living, a joint venture between Caddick Group and Generate Land.

The first designs for the development have been made available for public consultation, and the target date for start on site is early summer 2015 with the first properties ready for occupation in 2017.

Jim Lee, Director at Tate Consulting said, “We are excited to be working with Moda Living on this development.   The whole project team have been working really well together and we are very excited at playing a part in the development of what will be a landmark building for the Manchester skyline.”

One of the main challenges in the design has been to incorporate low carbon, sustainable heating designs that meet Manchester City Council’s Core Strategy Policies and achieve level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH). The goal has been to reduce energy consumption and associated carbon dioxide emissions whilst minimising site distribution and reducing the use of valuable communal space. This saves costs and maximises the overall value of the development.

Tony Brooks, director of Moda Living, said, “We believe that this is the best residential site in the UK outside of London and the perfect opportunity to launch our brand, which we intend to make the new benchmark for the regional private rented sector and the flagship project for Moda Living.” Commenting on Tate Consulting’s role he added, “I regard Tate Consulting as an excellent choice for M&E consultancy. On this development, their highly commercial design approach is providing opportunities for us to save substantial sums of money, and is in marked contrast to other consultants that we have used in the past.”
